What electric guitar should I get my boyfriend for his birthday?

I’m hoping to find a beautiful blue one that has nice sound and is good to learn on, that will grow with him, in terms of him getting better. He is a beginner, but I don’t want to buy him a cheapo crappo guitar. I’d like to spend somewhere between $300 and $700. I’ve been looking at some more in the $700 range, but should probably not spend that much. Any suggestions? Hohner Guitar

So I did a search in our acoustic guitar shop and low and behold there are a lot of Hohner guitars for sale. The founder of Hohner was Matthias Hohner, a young German fellow who at age 24 founded the company in 1857. In those days the company produced harmonicas and still does today. In fact, the Hohner company and Bob Dylan recently announced the Bob Dylan Collection of hand-signed harmonicas. The guitars however did not begun production until the 1970s.
